Wages
A fair wage is not something that should be a matter of constant political renegotiation. A fair wage for fair work means that workers should not feel challenged to make rent no matter where they live or work in Washington.
A living wage would set a minimum wage that is automatically inflation adjusted as well as adjusted for cost of living and cost of healthcare (if health insurance is not provided by the employment contract). A living wage is more flexible than a minimum wage as it can vary by locality and go up and down depending on other economic conditions, while ensuring that every employee is paid enough to make ends meet regardless of how prices change. As rents go up, so will wages.
