Sustainable Energy

Washington must achieve carbon neutrality as soon as possible to do our part to divert total global ecological collapse. While our investments in wind and solar pave much of the pathway towards sustainable energy, they also provide energy inconsistently depending on weather. Washington generates significant low-carbon electricity through its hydroelectric dams, but these can also be damaging to our waterways.

Geothermal energy has enormous potential to provide consistent sustainable energy with minimal ecological impact.

The Cascade Mountain Range features five active volcanos (Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams) making our state an ideal place for geothermal energy to be developed and harnessed.

Iceland & Geothermal Energy

Geothermal energy currently accounts for nearly a quarter of all energy production for Iceland compared to less than half a percent in the United States.
